An early-morning house fire and suspected gunshots have Fort Smith RCMP investigating what happened.

Police say they received a call just before 4:30 a.m. on Friday about a home on fire on Field Street with gunshots also heard. Further information given to police told of two individuals seen leaving the scene in a Hyundai sedan driven by a third person also at the scene.

The house has been declared a total loss as flames engulfed the entire structure, but no injuries were reported as a result.

No suspects have been identified and the investigation is ongoing with the help of the RCMP's Territorial Crime Reduction Unit, Fort Smith Protective Services and the Office of the Fire Marshal.
