RCMP are reporting that a body was found on Byrne Road Wednesday morning.

"Shortly before 7:00 a.m., Yellowknife RCMP received a report of a sudden death on Byrne Road in which a deceased person was found outside," said RCMP spokesperson Const. Josh Seaward in an email to 快盈v3. "Officers attended along with emergency medical services."

There was no immediate cause of death noted and Seaward said the investigation is ongoing in partnership with the Office of the Chief Coroner. The coroner's office is responsible for investigating all sudden and unexpected deaths.

Seaward added that the death is not considered suspicious in nature based on further investigation by the RCMP's Major Crimes Unit and that the coroner's office has ordered an autopsy.

The overnight temperature was between -18 and -21 C, according to the forecast from Environment Canada, but the wind chill made it feel anywhere between -29 and -35 C.
