We might be getting ahead of ourselves.
The city is set to open its long-anticipated aquatic centre on Monday, but rest assured the municipality is still thinking about future plans 鈥� one of which includes a ninja course.
"Everything structurally is in place," said Johanna Elliot, the city's facilities manager during a tour of the facility on April 30. "When we have money or are able to do it, it would be a course that goes over the lap pool."
A ninja course, as Elliot explained, would look akin to something you'd see on television shows like . It would drop down from the ceiling near the shallow end of the lap pool. Community services director Grant White also noted that the city has identified that area as a possible expansion to consider in the future.
If a ninja course is introduced one day, the aquatic centre would block out times between lane swimming and ninja-related activities, White said.
The course would be targeted toward slightly older children 鈥� at least those with enough upper-body strength to hold themselves up, Elliot added.
There's plenty of time in the pool's lifespan to add the course; White said the city designed the aquatic centre to last for 50 years.
No cost has been budgeted for the potential ninja course, White added, nor are there any concrete design plans at this point.
